Yara Tasseled Shimmer Shawl

A shimmer shawl in a fine satin weave shot with a metallic lurex thread, so it catches light when you move and settles when you are still, with beaded tassels along both short ends. The surface is solid, undistracted by print, so the colour and the trim carry it. Six shades, cut 160 × 70 cm — wider than most everyday scarves and a little shorter, which is a proportion made for draping rather than wrapping.

Styling note

The width makes this a draping scarf rather than a pinning one. Worn open over the shoulders with a closed abaya, the tassels move as you do, which is most of the appeal. For Ramadan evenings and Eid lunches it is dressed enough without tipping into occasion wear. Let the tasselled ends hang at different lengths rather than matching them.

One size, 160 × 70 cm. Wider than a standard everyday scarf and slightly shorter, which suits a loose shoulder drape more than a tight double wrap. Hand wash.
